You Bear It Well

Will and I figure Stella is old enough now to start really helping out around the house, earning an allowance.  Remember those giant bears I got at Costco/Voldemart?  I decided that would be good fodder for a  practice run at being rewarded for household tasks.  From the bear, we’ll transition to currency.

Other than a giant stuffed animal, she keeps raving about wanting a trophy.  I have no idea why.  I have tried explaining that a trophy is an award for doing something very well, but it’s not penetrating.  Regardless, she’s already plotting to spend her first wad of allowance money on a trophy of some kind.  Does Amazon have trophies?  I’m at a loss here.

Anyway, last night was finally big bear night.  I figured I’d let Stella pick her favorite of the two, since she was the one earning the reward.  This was also because my son had decided to behave like a jerk-face most of the day.  She surprised me and chose the dark brown bear.  She was absolutely delighted.  Felix hates his.  Of course.

It is a hoot to see her trying to drag this ginormous thing through the house.

I had to make Felix sit for this picture. He wasn't having it.

Other than that, we just wandered around in the heat a whole lot playing the stupid Pokemon game.  We’re all a bit obsessed.  It’s so bad that Will sent me to work today with his personal cell phone so I could collect balls at all the pokestops near my office.  I told him thanks, that I could now look twice as F’ing stupid.

My daughter, NOT looking stupid out pokemoning.

A final and totally unrelated note: Today is the funeral for the third and final officer shot here in town last Sunday.  It has all been so very sad.  The first 2 were huge affairs, with hundreds and hundreds attending or joining the procession in some way.  Today will likely be as big.  Interstates and highways have become parking lots, but no one complains for once.  Coming home from a park on Saturday, I was startled to see a Dallas police cruiser next to us in traffic.  No doubt he/she had come to show support.  I hope the assholes got all the crazy out for a good long time to come.  Enough already.

I caution you against rewarding for expected behavior, but I also realize it’s summer and that they have giant horsies at Cracker Barrel for $15. 😉

Give her a trophy for being a wonderful big sister. 🙂

I’m dying at you walking around with two cell phones for Pokemon Go!
