This Too Shall Ass

Are any of you lovelies on Instagram?  If so, have you experienced the joy of #assholeparents? Essentially it’s a profile/ hashtag dedicated to sharing pictures of young children absolutely losing their shit when something utterly ridiculous happens, like when they get what they want or if what they want doesn’t follow the laws of physics. 

It’s a hoot. As your kid flips the F out, take a picture and post it along with a brief description of what is happening and why that makes you an #assholeparent.  I must admit, I’ve done this a few times.  Felix gives me gold.  I feel compelled to share.

I do feel a twinge of guilt afterward.  I mean, I’m basically taking a picture of my child acting like an ass and sharing it with the whole Instaverse.  That’s not nice, is it?  I should be sharing sweet pictures of my kids, photos of them acting like model citizens.But we all know that wouldn’t be honest.  Kids can be buttholes.  Parenting is tough.  Some days if you couldn’t somehow channel your sense of humor, no matter how inappropriate, you’d lose your shit.  It’s gallows humor for parents, I suppose.

So I shall continue to contribute to this effort.  Because some days seeing that your kids aren’t the only irrational jackasses on the face of the planet is the best remedy.  Other than a box of wine, of course.
